The Syllabus of Tasawwaf (also known as Islamic Mysticism) goes through the concepts of Tasawwaf and analyses them from the viewpoint of the Qur’an, Sunnah, and the methodologies of the Noble Saints. By the end of the course the student should be able to appreciate that Tasawwaf is in fact ‘the spirit of the Qur’an and Sunnah’.

The Syllabus is made up of the following topics:

  1. The Definition, Purpose & Legitimacy of Tasawwaf 
  2. The Institution of Shariat, Tariqat, Haqiqat and Ma’rifa  
  3. The Concept of Walaayat 
  4. The Concept of Life and Death
  5. The Concept of Bay’ah and The Murshid
  6. The Instruments of Sulook 
  7. The Stages of Tasawwaf
  8. The Different Salaasil
  9. The Concept of Wahdatul Wujuud and Wahdatu Shuhuud

Based on the Hanafi school of thought, students will commence with an appreciation of the nature of Islamic Law followed by a detailed study of the rights, duties, and obligations that we as humans owe to our Creator. It also engages the student to appreciate the beautiful diversity of thinking amongst the learned jurists.

  2. Purification
  3. Forms of Salah
  4. Fasting
  5. Zakah
  6. Hajj & Umrah

Principles of Commentary of The Holy Qur’an is known as ‘Usool Tafseer’. Whilst the process of decoding this Ultimate Masterpiece is infinite and will continue until the end of times, this can only be possible if the student is equipped with the correct ‘tools of extraction’.

  11. Tafseer of Eeyaka Na’budu wa Eeyaka Nasta’een
  12. Tafseer of Ihdina Siraatul Mustaqeem
  13. Tafseer of Seeratalazeena Anamata Alayhim
  14. Tafseer of Ghairil Maghdoobee
